Over the Falls They Go

When you think of Niagara Falls, you may think of going over the waterfalls in a barrel. But do you know what it takes to do so and live to tell the tale? Since 1901 (and probably even earlier), 16 people have gone over the falls--the most recent in 2012. 11 have survived.

Check out this fascinating How Stuff Works article to read about Annie Edson Taylor--a 63-year-old, retired school teacher and widow who was the first person to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel in 1901--and the other daredevils who have taken the plunge since then.
